EcoSummit 2020

EcoSummit 2020 is marking a milestone in sustainability. Many agendas, reforms, bills and actions were focused on this date. Have the sustainability milestone been achieved? What will the future hold for sustainability?

EcoSummit 2020 aims to find solutions for pressing problems through the creative and outstanding input of its participants.

EcoSummit 2020 will be structured around symposia, sessions, workshops and forums to unite attendees in presenting, assessing and developing research and strategies dealing with pressing problems. From these events we would like to establish deliverables in the form of session reports and new ideas for policy makers and stakeholders.

The EcoSummit 2020 Scientific Committee invites submissions of symposium proposals and side events.

Following the conference theme BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE AND DESIRABLE FUTURE, the Scientific Committee is developing a program that will highlight the advances and research made to address the current environmental problems facing our changing world. A focus will be on the sustainable solutions to the most pressing problems of our time.

Who may submit a symposium or side event proposal?
All who share an interest in ecological science, applications, or practice are invited to submit symposium or side event proposals. We encourage proposals from scientists at all levels, university students, NGOs, and environmental practitioners.

Students and Young Scientists
As the solutions finders of tomorrow, students and young scientists (pre-PhD, PhD & post-docs) are strongly encouraged to present and participate.
If you are a young scientist and would like to contribute to the EcoSummit 2020 program/organise a session or side event, please indicate “Young Scientist” on the Symposia & Side Event Proposal Form.

Preparing and submitting a side event proposal
Proposals should be submitted by Friday 19 July 2019, using the online Symposia & Side Event Proposal Form.

If you would like to organize a particular side event, please indicate the type of event, subject, length and maximum number of participants. Workshops, discussion forums and think tanks are welcome, and the style and format choice are entirely up to the side event proposer.

Preparing and submitting a symposium proposal
Proposals should be submitted by Friday 19 July 2019, using the online Symposia & Side Event Proposal Form.

Those submitting the proposal should provide basic information on symposia organizer(s), title, a short abstract of the symposium proposal (at least 350 words) and a list of potential speakers (we strongly encourage you to contact those speakers and get their tentative agreements) and their affiliations.

Financial support for session organizers or speakers will not be provided by EcoSummit. Please refer to the registration page for more information on special discounted registration rates for students and developing countries.

In standard symposia, we recommend that each speaker be given at least 20 minutes for his/her presentation. It is also possible to allow Speed Talks of 5-minute duration followed by a longer discussion time. Symposium proposers may also wish to consider devoting part of the session to a visit of posters linked to the session. Posters will be on display all week in the conference centre.

Symposia are open to abstracts from all participants
Please note that the abstract submission process will be open to all, so symposium organizers may need to include papers or posters that were not originally proposed for their sessions. Individuals submitting abstracts will be asked to select the session(s) that their presentation is most relevant to. During the abstract review process by the EcoSummit 2020 scientific committee, the allocation of accepted abstracts to specific sessions will be made (with some consultation with session organizers). Please be aware of this possibility and the need for flexibility in designing your session. In the event that the number of accepted abstracts for a particular session exceeds the number that can be accommodated in a single session, organizers may be given an additional session slot in the Congress program.
